As part of Hilton Hotels Corporation global green programs, The Hilton New York was the first hotel to install a UTC PureCell™ fuel cell power system on top of its building. The fuel cell operates without combustion 24/7 to continuously provide power and hot water for hotel operations.

  • Hotel uses UTC PureCell™ fuel cell power system to provide electric power and hot water, operating 24/7 without combustion. Fuel cells are one of the cleanest power generating technologies available today, nearly three times more energy efficient than the electric grid when used in combined heat and power applications.
  • Energy-saving light bulbs operate majority of lighting functions.
  • Guest linen program offers alternate day laundering of all bed linen and bath towels. Guest program notice printed on 100% recyclable paper.
  • Bulk food and beverage buying program utilized with colleague Hilton hotels, transporting items from one centralized location to reduce auto emissions.
  • Team member “paperless” technology program reduces paper waste, encouraging printing of documents only when necessary. Printing/copier paper is recyclable, with 10% post-consumer content. Staff computers shut down at end of each workday to conserve energy. On-duty hotel managers walk premise, turning off all unnecessary lights 24/7.
  • Motion sensors to turn on/off lights installed in meeting space.
  • Environmentally friendly refrigerants used in the chillers to cool the hotel.
  • POG client website designed to reduce paper waste.
  • Restrictors installed in shower heads to reduce water waste.
  • Guestrooms utilize 1 gallon flush toilets
